"Art is not what you see but what you make others see"......Degas

I agree with Degas, Art is what you make others feel through what you have created.  I love hearing people tell me what they see as they stand back and gaze at one of my works.  The responses are as varied and interesting as the personalities that I encounter.  And each time my work is transformed through their eyes. 

I began my study for art at the age of ten with private lesson.  I loved sketching and exploring color but when I was at school a wonderful art teacher introduced me to sculpture and I fell in love. I have studied with as many different instructors as possible so that I can gleamed from each of them something unique. I have studied in Greece with artist Alan Bain and in Cortona, Italy with artist Alex Deya and I spent a year in Japan at the Shigaraki Cultural Institute as an artist in residence.  I was pursuing a masters degree in studio art when I decided that institutionalized study could only take me so far and I decided to open my own gallery and to immerse myself in the process.  Betz Art Gallery is an artist co-operative which means that I am trying to create a place for artists to come together and share their creativity and engage and enrich our community as well.  

I have displayed my art in both national and international venues and I have been fortunate enough to have my work accepted into the Cultural Museum in Japan and also into many private and corporate collections. I am currently working on a bronze sculpture for the Chamber of Commerce in Pearland, Texas and I will coming out with my new series, "Mirror Images" in the spring, which will feature oil on canvas figurative paintings that are "mirrored" by the same, but different,  image done in bronze.
