CALL TO ARTISTS
We are currently taking applications for two new Artist to join Betz Gallery for 2010.
The membership at the Gallery is kept to a limited number because we are a group of artists that are serious about our work and our careers. At Betz Art Gallery an emerging artist will learn more about the art business then anywhere else and the members nurture each others creative talents and abilities. We are a very select and goal oriented group who believe that the best way to achieve is through commitment. Anyone interested must be willing to work with us to build our careers and the gallery as a whole.
Artists interested in joining an artist gallery in the Heart of Houston should email, mail, or bring by a completed copy of the application below and photos of their art work.
Artist Submission Procedure
Thank you for your interest in Betz Art Gallery. If you wish to have our company review your artwork, please send us the following information:
- Samples of your work (preferably photos or slides)
- Your contact information (name, address, phone number)
- A résumé and/or a biography.
- Any other information you can share with us on you (the artist) and on your art.
Please do not send in any original work, as we decline responsibility on any loss or damage. If you wish to have your samples returned to you, please provide us with a self-labeled envelope with proper postage.

The process takes approximately two months to be reviewed by our entire committee. You will then receive a response by mail. Thank you again for your interest in our company.
BETZ GALLERY was re-opened in mid October as an artist owned members gallery which means that member artists curate and maintain their own space in the gallery. Each member has an opportunity to hold exhibitions and events on a first come basis. Monthly membership fees go towards operating expenses.
The benefits of joining an artists owned members gallery are:
*Gallery space in a high profile location
*Monthly exhibitions and advertised events
*Artists profile included on the web page.
*Regular Gallery hours open to the Public.
*Credit Card and Internet sales through the Gallery
*Low to no Commission which means that if you are selling a large volume of work you keep more of your profits.
* Gallery Artist artwork is automatically included in our portfolio that is shown to decorators and corporate clients first. In the last quarter of 2009, our gallery members sold over 60 original works of art to one of our corporate accounts with there only being five members this past year, we could not keep up with the demand. That is why we accepting applications for two new Artists. We intentionally keep our membership to only a few artists in order to keep the quality of the art work that we represent very high.
*The Gallery also offers free delivery of over sized art with the corporate van, along with professional installations as our way of showing appreciation for our valued clients.
*Gallery Artist will have the opportunity to have their work reproduced with our Limited Edition Reproduction line.

Currently, each member pays $235.00 each month for rent All members sign a contract agreeing to stay in the gallery for at least 1 year and to give at least 3 months notice if withdrawing from the partnership. Currently, each partner is charged a 20% commission on their sales which goes into a gallery fund for expenses and repairs and charge card fess.
Each member is allowed a one-person exhibition approximately every year. The partner is expected to pay the cost of invitations and half of the postage. Betz Art Gallery has developed an extensive mailing list for the use of the partners, and we also have access to a large group of free listings. We hire a professional press agent for every event and we can often get help from our sponsors depending on the event.
Becoming a Member:
Efforts are made at all times to maintain a high degree of excellence and pride in our gallery, our work, and the people we represent. If you are interested in becoming a partner, please fill out an application form and submit it with your biography, resume, and images of your work (they may be photographs, a CD of images or a website location). This will be placed in our files for future reference and will be reviewed when we have an opening for a new partner. If we need another gallery member, and there is interest in your work, you will be asked to bring originals for viewing and consideration; you will be contacted to arrange an interview. Be sure to include a current address and phone number when you submit your application. To make yourself more familiar with Betz Gallery, feel free to visit often, attend gallery receptions, and ask the gallery artists questions.
